SFI Early Childhood Classrooms, Programs, and Centers

What Is an SFI Program?

A Strengthening Families Illinois program is any early childhood program pursuing a clear plan for implementing the Strengthening Families protective factors while enhancing partnerships with families. These programs can be established in early childhood care and education centers, public and private preschool classrooms, Head Start and Early Head Start programs, and other licensed educational programs that serve children and families. Strengthening Families Illinois professional development and parent involvement strategies can be included in program proposals for the Illinois Prevention Initiative, Pre-K, and Preschool for All.

“It’s so important being able to talk to other parents. The teachers at our center make connections by saying, ‘This parent is going through the same thing you are.” – Staff Member
